Kalamazoo Wedding Photography – Kim & Dann (Slideshow)

I photographed Kim and Dann’s wedding a few weeks ago…it was a beautiful ceremony and reception at Southern Exposure Herb Farm in Battle Creek, Michigan. If you haven’t been to Southern Exposure, it’s definitely worth checking out. It was a maze of awesome gardens–and a fun place to shoot! Congrats to Kim and Dann!
Wedding Photography – Mike and Michelle (Slideshow)

Congrats to Michelle and Mike! My wife and I went to high school with Michelle back in Illinois, so it was a blast to be a part of her big day–my wife was a bridesmaid and I was the photographer. The wedding was held at the beautiful home of Michelle’s parents and, despite the rain, [...]
Wedding Photography – Melissa & Ryan 5/8/10

I photographed Melissa and Ryan’s wedding a couple weekends ago in Rockford, Michigan, and we had a great time! Melissa planned quite a bit of time for portraits into the day, and I think it really paid off. Here are a few shots from the day… And you can also view a little slideshow here:

Portraits of my son at 7 weeks old

Ok, I had to post a few new portraits of my son….I brought him into the studio yesterday and he seemed to have a great time (until a little spitup ended our session–I’ll refrain from posting that image…).
Wedding Slideshow – Kim and Rob at the Kalamazoo Nature Center

I photographed my first wedding of the season last Saturday. Kim and Rob had a beautiful ceremony in the Butterfly Garden at the Kalamazoo Nature Center, and we lucked out with the weather…..the storms cleared for just long enough! Congrats to Kim and Rob!

More to come…..I have two weddings this weekend…!
Engagement Portrait – Jill & Koen

Oddly enough, I had two couples last week that wanted to shoot their engagement portraits at the same random park south of Kalamazoo. Of course, after I saw it, I understood why–it’s a beautiful little park with great light and lots to work with. Here are a few photographs from my time with Jill and [...]
College Softball – Kalamazoo vs Olivet

I also photographed the Kalamazoo College softball team taking on Olivet College last week. Olivet won both games of the doubleheader. This was the end of my spring sport coverage–now it’s on to wedding season!
College Tennis (men) – Kalamazoo College vs Coe

Congrats to the Kalamazoo College men’s tennis team on their 72nd consecutive MIAA regular season championship! Yes, that’s right, 72nd…unbelievable… Here are a few shots from their match against Coe College last week.
Engagement Portrait – Chrissy & Neil

I’ll be photographing Chrissy and Neil’s wedding in August, and we had a fun time wandering around Downtown Kalamazoo a couple weeks ago for their engagement shoot. They’re a fun couple and I think we really captured that in some of the photos…
2010 MIAA Track & Field Jamboree hosted by Olivet College

I spent last Saturday at Olivet College photographing the 2010 MIAA Track & Field Jamboree. It was cold out, but I love shooting these events because there are so many different events going on and so many different pictures to make. I posted a few of my favorites here…
College Tennis (women) – Kalamazoo vs Calvin

I photographed the Kalamazoo College women’s tennis team last week as they took on Calvin College. The Hornets fell 8-1… See the full gallery here.
Mmmm….Candy…..

I recently did some work for Ali, who owns Iced Events and creates unique dessert buffets for weddings and parties. This was a fun shoot because it’s not every day that I get to make pretty pictures of candy! And oddly enough, most of my other clients don’t send me home with a plate full [...]
College Baseball – Kalamazoo College vs Trine

I haven’t done as much blogging lately since I’ve been so busy, but I’m trying to get it going again! Here are a few shots from Kalamazoo College’s baseball game against Trine at home last weekend. It was a beautiful day, but it didn’t go so well for the Hornets who lost both games of [...]
Derek Jeter’s Hometown – On Assignment for USA Today

USA Today called a couple weeks ago with an assignment for a story about Derek Jeter’s home town. Since they don’t call every day, I was fairly excited about the opportunity… Being new to Kalamazoo myself, I didn’t even know that Jeter played baseball at Kalamazoo Central High School, but it turns out that he [...]
Website Images – First Congregational Church

Last November, I did some work for the First Congregational Church in Kalamazoo. They wanted a set of photojournalistic images to use on a new website, so I spent three Sundays working as quietly as I could during services. They just got the new website up and live so I thought I’d share a few [...]
Baby Rocky!

My son was born this past Monday, and within five minutes I was taking his first pictures! Rocky Sage McGuire was born at 11:37am in a water birth after a marathon 45 hours of labor. My wife Megan handled it beautifully and we’re so excited to add this new member to our family. If I’ve [...]
Spa World Party

I’m part of a networking group here in Kalamazoo–professionals from various lines of work–and we recently had our first social event. Spa World of Schoolcraft threw a little party for everyone and I was there to capture the fun. Here are couple shots I liked….
On a side note, if anyone needs a recommendation to a [...]
How NOT to choose a wedding photographer…

I’ve never seen Judge Joe Brown before, but this video made it’s way to me and was too good not to post.
Brides and grooms out there: don’t be afraid to ask lots of detailed questions! Your wedding is a one-time affair and your photographer will be capturing the images that will live on for the [...]
My babies…..

For those that don’t know, my wife and I are expecting our first child any moment now! I finally got Megan in the studio the other day for a few pregnancy portraits, so I thought I’d share a couple. By the way, if I’m slow to respond to any emails or voice mails over the [...]
High School Basketball – Kalamazoo Central vs Battle Creek Central

I spent Friday night photographing the Kalamazoo Central High School varsity basketball teams as they took on Battle Creek Central. The Kalamazoo men and women both dominated on their home court, with the men winning 74-60 and the women winning 53-37. See more photos from the women’s game here. See more photos from the men’s [...]
